Most of my playing over the past 20+ years has been in the pit — theater shows, musicals, live productions where the musicians sit below the stage and the performers work above. It's a specific kind of discipline. You're not playing for yourself or even for the room. You're holding the floor for everything happening above you.

The actors, the dancers, the director's vision — all of it depends on the ensemble being locked in, together, so they can do what they do at the highest level. Your job isn't to be noticed. It's to make everything else possible. That's a different mindset than most musicians develop — and it's never left me.

I've also played stages — festivals, orchestras, ensembles — but even there, it's never just about the music in isolation. There's always someone else in the room whose work is elevated or limited by what you bring. You learn quickly that the quality of your contribution directly determines what other people can do with theirs.

That's exactly how I approach coaching. I'm not the one on stage. My clients are. My job is to be the invisible infrastructure that makes their performance possible at the highest level — to help them find the constraint, build the right structure, and show up to their own work with more clarity, more confidence, and fewer things quietly working against them.

I left a traditional career path to build and operate creative businesses — including Westrick Vocal Studio, which my wife Rallia and I run together in Central Florida. I know what it's like to be both the visionary and the person who has to make payroll. The SCORE Method™ came out of that reality — a framework that helps creative business owners find the real constraint and grow in a way that actually fits who they are.
